I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I recently bought a Chicago Electric 20 amp plasma cutter (58605) off craigslist but it's missing the torch. Does anyone know where I can buy a torch that will work for this model? Will harbor freight sell me one? I've been looking at the chinese PT31 torches, will any of these work?
New to plasma cutting and would appreciate any advice.

Re: looking for chicago electric 20 amp torch
The manual explicitly states: "Use only supplied torch on this plasma cutter. Using components from other systems may cause personal injury and damage components within." I could be done, but they certainly are trying to discourage it and a replacement torch does not appear to be available from Harbor Freight. Looks like a new unit is $349 so if you can retrofit a cheap torch from Amazon that may be your best bet but nothing but the original will be a direct bolt on. Let us know what you end up doing and how it works.

Re: looking for chicago electric 20 amp torch
Before you spend anymore money you need to determine it that unit is a Pilot Arc Sstart model and NOT Contact Start (you have to touch the torch to the metal and pull it away like starting n arc with a stick welder). If it's contact start it wont work for any type of CNC automated cutting. If all you want is to cut some sheet metal by hand then a replacement torch might be okay if you can find one but I doubt any other brand will plug in and work
A 20A unit is going to be limited in what it will cut as well (Thickness)
If you want a lower cost torch that WILL work and is a 60A unit , look at the PrimeWeld 60 .
Its got a CNC connection port and saves you a lot of time trying to get the signals for automated cutting.
