Plasma cutting pricing estimator

Post by Nemo »

Hi everyone,

I work for a Plasma CNC manufacturer, and I get a lot of questions about how best to charge for plasma jobs.
To that end, I made up an estimating tool: https://surecut.app/

The idea being you can upload a DXF, choose the material to cut from and it will outline the costs, then generate a quote.

I'd be keen to see what anyone thinks about it.

Prices in there are estimates.

Looks like a good idea! I tried it with something I cut recently to see a price comparison. It said $170ish quote to customer then I hit generate quote and it changed it to 700 some dollars? What did I miss?

Probably didn't miss anything. I wouldn't do just the cutting alone in the file listed by the OP for less than $500 USD.

I did find a bug with the pricing that I've now fixed, I'm not sure if this is the specific issue you were having, but let me know if not.

I've been playing with it tonight. I like it but a metric timo inches setting for the setup would be really helpful and adding a selection for the Hypotherm Powermax 105. Its a really great project

Thanks!

I'm not sure I follow what you mean regarding the metric and inches setup? There's a Metric/Imperial setting on the top, also a metric/imperial selector when uploading the dxf. Are either of those not working? Or is this something else entirely.

I should be able to upload the 105 cut settings fairly easily.

Thanks for the feedback!

No worries, I have been playing with the desktop version today and found that it couldn't load the DFX I designed. I tried creating a version that has all elements on a single layer, and that didn't work as well. Any thoughts? I appreciate your support. I think it has a lot of potential.

Thanks for uploading that, I've corrected the issue and made sure it now works with that DXF.
