old torchmate table

Post by lloydforgeandfinish »

Good afternoon everyone, iv come into possession of an old torchmate table. So old its running version 5 of the CAM software and v1.42 of the cut software.. I've recently quit my job and gone out on my own so this will help me greatly but is a far cry from what im used to running. i come from a massive esab table with Columbus and Pronest software, also OMAX waterjet software.

my question is, this thing will only read G code, is there a free or cheap program that will output what the old torchmate software needs? I am highly proficient in AutoCAD and running V2024.

funniest thing about it? The user manual tells me to print my autocad drawing out, scan it and upload it to corell draw..
got to be a better way! Thanks Guys

I purchased the Torchmate CAD-CAM V9 lite several years ago directly from Torchmate. The cost was right around $300. If you want to try it out, you can download the free EDU version which is fully functional except it will only save as .edu format. But it will give you a chance to see what capabilities it does have. Here is the download page.

I expect there is a TMCad post processor for SheetCam that may work for you. So you could draw in any program that will allow saving as dxf or svg, then import to SheetCam for tool path creation and post processing. Also Fusion 360 (free) may have an appropriate post processor so you could do your drawings, tool paths, and post process all using a single package.

I just checked and there are several Torchmate post processors for SheetCam.

You can download a free trial version of SheetCam here. The trial version is limited to 180 lines of code.

You can purchase a perpetual SheetCam license here: Current price is $145.

If you are still using AutoCad, I expect you could export as dxf and import to SheetCam for CAM/Post processing. Inkscape and Fusion 360 are both free programs you could try as well. Let us know how you make out.
