Go Torch Indexing

Post by CNC_rowdy »

Hi all,
Anyone with a Go Torch and advanced machine control, what is your method of indexing a sheet while design edge puts the sheet in the
0 and 90 direction. And the Go Torch is open on the left and right end, 0 180 and 0 direction. I don't know how to change the sheet display
in design edge. Maybe someone has a solution.
Thanks,
CNC_rowdy

Why not just rotate the design 90 degrees in the software?

Because the GoTorch just sits on the material (unless you've made a table as many of us have) they don't see it as an issue that, as you say, the GoTorch indexes in the wrong direction.

You could, in theory, do what Joe suggests and create your indexed cut paths with the design going across the 2 tables sideways and then rotate it. Draw a 24" square around each section so it's easier to move it around with node point snaps. You should probably put the table size back to 2'x2' before moving things just to simplify the view while doing this. Then cut the first table section, slide the material up, move the second table area onto the table and line up the material to the cut paths and then cut the second section.

As David said, having customizable size lets you set the table axes orientation to match the controller orientation which would let you do this without moving anything around.

Right. He did not indicate that he built a table for the Go Torch, but I assumed he did, since he could not index the material on the axis he desired.

Yes all. in reply, I did build a table for the Go Torch, so it is mounted permanently. I have indexed sheets from left and the right side, but not top to bottom as the machine option shows. I do not work with the machine enough to justify getting the customizable size option. I know a lot of you run your machines everyday, but this is just a hobby to me. I was just asking questions, so any replies I get back are great.
Thanks all,

Hobby guy here as well! I use my table mainly for Christmas gifts for family members. Let us know how you make out with your project, and perhaps share a few photos of your finished result.
