Would there be any WAY or disadvantage to being able to have the air flow ON all the time while cutting ? It seems there are delays when having to wait for the air flow to cycle at times between pierces. When doing Artsy stuff there can be Many hundreds of pierces and any delays add up for total time to cut.
IF there is a way to do it A couple of Mcodes can handle the process to turn on the feature and turn OFF the feature as needed.
IF it effects electrode life THAT is NOT an issue . Air supply is NOT an issue the duty cycle is %100 on air. The extra TIME most times out costs the consumables.
Note, this is mainly for the artsy type of cutting not industrial style where a couple of time delays mean nothing to the total cost of cutting.
Thanks for the Time, (;-) TP

Re: Air FLow Question for Jim Colt @ HT
What system have you got?
My PM45 does not wait between pierces - if the post-flow is still on and i trigger another cut, the post-flow stops immediately and the torch fires, there is no delay??

There should be no disadvantage (other than using a lot more air) to keeping the air flow on all the time.....except that with a BlowBack torch the air must shut off, then be restrted in order to refire the torch. It is impossible to fire a blowback torch with the air flowing continuously.
