Re: Latest cut
Thanks guys, as far as HAZ (heat affected zone) treatment I am not a pro, but I used to do a lot of heat treating of tool steel with a torch and got used to recognizing the color sequence. I would suggest getting a scrap piece of 16 ga or so mild steel, grind it with a flap disc and heat with a small propane torch until you got used to it. I used a rosebud and stayed away from the metal about 6 to 8 inches. You must be patient because there is a time lapse for the color to "come out". Heat the metal for a few seconds then move the flame away and watch it for a few seconds. If you heat it until you get the color you want it will change about 3 shades on down the line. The metal will actually go through the colors twice (almost). If you mess up grind it again and start over!
I made the wolf heads with 14 ga. mild steel.
Thanks again guys I am truly humbled.

Thanks ya'll I really have to slow myself down to do that. I like to "git er done" and you just can't get in a hurry.

Sorry, it is not my file to distribute. The only reason I posted was to show the coloring effects.

Amazing job. Will you make one for me? Just kidding. Really awesome project.
There is plenty of room at the top - and the top is where you want to be. Whenever you do a project - do the hardest part first and the rest will be easy.
