powermax 800

found a refurb powermax 800 for 1800. is this a good machine for cmc table i will convert hand torch to machine .need to cut up to 3/8 high carbon steel and stainless ,and 1/2 to 3/4 steel plate

The Powermax800 will be close to 20 years old...$1800 is too much money even if it is in perfect condition. Somewhere in the $600 (beat up but works) to $1200 (perfect, like new) would be more realistic. You can buy a brand new Powermax45 (online price) usually in the $1800 range and because it is newer technology it will outperform the older Powermax800 in every way.
