cutting 6mm stainless with powermax 30

Post by plascutart »

Can anyone recommend the settings for cutting 6mm (1/4'') stainless plate with with a powermax 30 on a DHC2.
First time try and would like a close starting point.
Or would I use the same settings & speed as mild steel?
Thankyou

Here is the chart for steel cutting, and also the stainless chart. These charts are for mechanized cutting with a Powermax45 using the Powermax30 consumables. They are only recommended for cutting up to .135" thick.

If you need to cut 1/4" stainless with the 30.....I would recommend experimenting a bit. Pierce height should be about .150" and cut height at about .06". Try cutting at about 18 to 20 ipm, and increase the speed 2ipm at a time to determine best speed.

The Powermax30 is designed as a hand cutting system.....so when it it used for mechanized cutting we typically downgrade it's thickness capability so you are less likely to exceed the duty cycle.
