That's a great question! It's like a puzzle, and I can't figure out how the pieces would be assembled either.

I quickly tried to piece it together in Fusion and from what I can see it must require some bending of the pieces in order for it to fit together for welding. I may take another stab at it later if I can.

Ok, i will take a shot at it.
This is what I am seeing.
The top is a removable lid which keeps the deer and rain/snow out. The bottom square keeps the feed from falling out the bottom. The sides and front have two opposing bends each. The back is flat and has no bends.
I would use the back as the sides bend template. Then after the sides are bent the front bend angles can be easily established.
Might be a good idea to punch holes in the bottom square to let moisture out that may get in and keep mold in the feed down.
See Isometric on bottom of sketch
We dont have deer untile we get into the foothills, but nothing here in teh San Joaquin Valley.
So I do not have a need for one, but I have built a lot of similar transitions in my day.
The bottom cap could be left off and add a pan at the bottom and let it fill the pan.
as long as the transition lip is below the side of a pan it sholdnt overflow.
An extension could be added to the bottom as well. But there would be no good way to keep rain or snow out unless the whole thing were under a shelter, then the rain/snow lid could be deleted.
This is the best that I can figure on the confifuration

Ya, that makes sense Doug, thanks! It was the back piece that was throwing me off. Anyone build one yet?

Maybe whoever designed it wanted to mount the thing to a wall or something flat. The flat back would make it easier to accomplish that. But that is just a guess since he never posted one built, or at least not on this thread.
Also, If I had need to build one, I might make a bent flanged cap at the bottom, and ditch the welded cap, and make it a flip down cap on a piano hinge with a toggle clamp type hasp so that I could empty it out easily into a 5 gallon bucket or a wheel barrow or something. Would be easier than fishing the stuff out of the top imo...
