SheetCAM beginner issue

Post by jlasater »

I'm new to CND plasma tables and bought a barely used Torchmate 4400 machine. It didn't come with the license for Torchmate CAD/CAM and I plan on using QCAD and SheetCAM. Having never used either, it only took me about ten minutes to make a simple square plate with four equally spaced holes. When I saved from SheetCAM after selecting the Torchmate Plasma as the machine type, and then open the file in Torchmate VMD, I get the following:

In SheetCAM, it looks like this:

This is the g-code created. Can you give me a clue as to where the issue is?

Yes. I picked Torchmate Plasma because Torchmate Plasma VMD showed no Z axis. THC may be the one I should pick because I do have the torch height control. Not sure that would affect the scaling though. Worth a try.

I tried to run a simulation with your g-code and it has problems.

I drew a similar part and used the SheetCam Torchmate plasma THC post processor and this is the result.

I would try some of the different SheetCAM Torchmate post processors to see if a different one will give you a better result as it appears in your VMD display.

You were correct...I tried the first five Torchmate entries and sure enough, Torchmate VMD2 worked perfectly.
