Excavator hyd thumb

Post by kn612 »

Here's a homebrew thumb I came up with. Attached the dxfs of the plate if anyone needs one. I modified it as I went. Pin mounts were made to fit extra cylinder we had on hand.

Great job on the homebrew thumb! I needed a mini excavator for some projects around my property, like digging trenches and doing light landscaping.

I found mini excavators perfect for tight spaces. They’re small but powerful. I chose a Yanmar VIO35-6A because it's easy to maneuver and has near-zero tail swing, which helps a lot in confined areas.

Yanmar VIO35-6A is a very good choice. When picking a mini excavator, think about the maximum dig depth, operating weight, and dump height. These factors will help you choose the right one. If you need more info, check this information about mini excavators. It's a good resource for understanding what different models offer and what might work best for you.
