I’m also interesting to know if there is a way to scale parts to different sizes. Such as say a fixture table were I have several .645 holes in a plate that’s 2x2 and I want to make the same plate in 4x8 but want to keep the same .645 holes. If I simply just use select all and enlarge the plate it will enlarge the wholes as well.If I use a scaling tool it will rescale the object with out effecting the hole size. Just not sure how to do scaling in Inkscape.
I assume you are talking about fixture plates/tables here with a grid of 0.645" diameter holes, say on a 2" x 2" spacing. If so, here is a method to do it using Inkscape. Once you have created your original file and saved it as SVG, you can reopen it and adjust the number of holes while keeping the hole spacing and hole size the same. You would need to draw a new rectangle to fit your new grid size.

David,
Thanks. After you enter the rows and columns number do you just press enter. I know on some of inkscape executions you have to click Apply such as Transform. I do not see the apply button there but I do see a randomize.

As you enter the rows and columns numbers the drawing will automatically change/update to reflect your new entries.

TJ - you are quite welcome! Do you have any upcoming projects where you will be creating a rectangular array of holes?

Not yet. But as I said. This should be a sticky for the inkscape forum. Anyway I can search and find it.

I very much agree! I'm not sure how we would create a "sticky". Perhaps Admin could advise.
In any case, I bookmarked it for future reference. Lots of great information here.

Hey TJS, we will make this topic a sticky for sure. One thing I will suggest for future reference of topics you don't want to forget about or lose track of, is to use the "Bookmark" feature. Super handy feature many don't know about. Once you "Bookmark" a topic you can go to your User Control Panel, click on Bookmarks, and view all Bookmarked topics. See image below showing where to go to Bookmark a topic your currently viewing.
