Chainsaw Sign
Here's a Sthil chainsaw sign I made for a local guy that sells Firewood. The man is 82 yrs old and never stops cutting wood and that keeps him in top shape. i buy like 12 cords per year from him and I decided to make him a sign because people were asking me "where does Marius live". So with a sign on his shed...they will find him quick...lol
The sign is about 36" wide by 19" tall. Cut out of 16 guage HR and backed with wood. Then I painted the sign with acrylic paint and sealed it with an outdoor clear rust paint.

Re: Chainsaw Sign
Looks like the paint was brushed on, is that correct?
Then in order to preserve the acrylic, you sprayed a clearcoat in order to seal it from the elements?

Re: Chainsaw Sign
Doug - that is a great question! I'm guessing that some or all of it might have been brushed on, it's really hard to tell from the photo.

Re: Chainsaw Sign
You are most welcome! Do you have any photos of the individual pieces before you assembled it? Is this a two layer sign with the top layer metal and then attached to the wood? Or was it multiple metal pieces assembled over the wood?

Re: Chainsaw Sign
The wood was painted black. Then the design was routed. Then the yellow, white and green were hand-painted where needed.

Re: Chainsaw Sign
I made it in 3 layers (L1,L2,L3)and Painted with artistic brushes and acrylic paints. the L1 was spray painted
with rustoleum flat black. Then I placed the sign on 4 pieces of wood laminated together that I stained
with a minwax "golden Pecane" color. Then I sealed the hole sign front and back with an outdoor clear sealer.
That sign was so popular that i recieved 4 orders in a week's time. All references from people that picked up firewood at Marius's place...lol
The one for Marius I did as a gift to him.
I made 1 small size one 20" x 14" for $275 cdn
and 3 mediums size ones 36" x 19" like the one for Marius for $575 cdn ea
I hope my explanation help answer some of your questions.
