Powermax 1100 machine torch upgrade

Post by Lootsef »

I have an old pmx1100 in near perfect condition. As I understand hypertherm will discontinue the pac135m torch consumables in July. They offer an RT80m retrofit torch for this machine at a cost of Aud $1000 but it will be discontinued in 12 months effectively making my pmx1100 a Very expensive paper weight.

Can anyone tell me if a duramax machine torch can to mated with a pmx1100 successfully?

I don't see one for the 1100, your best to contact Hypertherm and ask what they can do for you.

I have had the Powermax 1100 with T80 for many years, it works very well. Now I have a PM 85 with a Duramax burner.

This combination is a little better than the old one, but the wear parts are much more expensive and don't last longer at mie.

I can only say that a PM 1100 with T80 is very good and I believe that there are companies that offer good wear parts.

Try to get a older used T80.

Hello from Europe. Same problem here - I have an old but working Hypertherm Powermax 1100, but no torch for it. I can buy very cheap Duramax retrofit torch HRTS for the next generation Hypertherm machines (Powermax 1000/1250/1650 series). I also have an electrician, who knows its work, and can connect it directly to the machine maybe even bypassing the connectors on the torch and the machine. But will it work?
Attached pictures of the connectors of my machine and the torch that I can buy.
Thanks

I am sure you can make it work, but unsure if it will simply plug into the power source once you have removed the quick disconnect socket from the front of your 1100 shown in your last image. I expect if it was a direct replacement for the 1100 they would have specified that.

Thanks for the advice. I am sure it won't just plug into the power source, but I just have no other possibilities - the original torch for this machine is not available anymore, even on the second hand market.
